The Challenge
National Semiconductor struggled to provide more relevant and timely information to customers, and to measure the effectiveness of its customer communications. To do so, they would need a comprehensive solution that could accelerate sales and service revenues through the creation and implementation of highly effective lead generation and marketing programs. And they needed a content management system to enable them to rapidly implement updates and site revisions based on insight gained from online customer interactions.
Unfortunately, the existing Lotus Notes-based system did not give National what it needed to administer the sophisticated type of customer communications that the team had in mind. While they tried to create a closed-loop process, they couldn’t track the results. “We would send offers and generate lots of e-mails, but there was no traceability,” said Gibson.
The Solution
The flexible Vignette solution enables National to keep online information fresh and provide personalized information to users faster and more efficiently than the manual posting methods they previously used. “Our customers continue to praise the online information they receive from National Semiconductor,” added Gibson. “Virtually all of our customers’ designs are influenced by National’s public Web site. Using Vignette, we have successfully strengthened online relationships and customer loyalty. We plan to build on that momentum by incorporating additional solutions from Vignette to help distribute our product and services offerings throughout the Web.”
