Mike Aviles is president and chief executive officer at Vignette Corporation. Aviles was appointed as CEO in February, 2006. As president and CEO, Aviles is responsible for all global operations, including sales, marketing, professional services, product and business development.
Prior to joining Vignette, Aviles was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Activant Solutions, Inc., a market-leading provider of software and information services to the automotive aftermarket, hardware and lumber industries. At Activant, Aviles drove the company to five consecutive years of strong earnings growth and successfully completed a public offering of high-yield debt to institutional investors. Prior to Activant, Aviles served as president and CEO of Foster Grant Group, a leading marketer and distributor of popular priced consumer eyewear. He also held senior executive roles at FOOTACTION USA, an athletic specialty retailer, serving as a key member of the management team that aggressively grew the company to a half billion dollars in revenue. Aviles began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with KPMG Peat Marwick.
Aviles received his MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and has a BBA from Pace University. He also serves as an officer for the Austin chapter of Young Presidents' Organization.
Pat Kelly joined Vignette as chief financial officer in July 2006. Prior to joining Vignette, Kelly was director of Global Facility Planning at Dell. Among his various responsibilities, Kelly managed Dell's facility operations in India which had more than 11,000 employees.
From 1998 to 2004 Kelly served as CFO of Trilogy Software, a leading provider of industry-specific enterprise software. During his tenure, Kelly introduced systems and processes to enable Trilogy to evolve from its technology startup beginnings to a more mature and financially disciplined organization. Kelly joined Trilogy after 14 years with AMR, the parent company to both American Airlines and The Sabre Group.
From 1995 to 1998 Pat was CFO of The Sabre Group and played a key role in Sabre's initial public offering in 1996. Prior to his position at Sabre, Kelly served as vice president of Financial Planning and Analysis at American Airlines where he was responsible for Capital Planning and Financial Planning for one of the world's largest airlines.
Kelly holds a master's degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia's engineering school.
Alex Shootman joined Vignette in October 2006 as senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Services.
Prior to joining Vignette, Shootman served as executive vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at TeleTech and was responsible for all revenue generating and market facing activities at the global business process outsourcing (BPO) company. Prior to TeleTech, he held the position of vice president of Sales and Services for the Americas region at BMC. At BMC, he was responsible for sales, pre-sales, professional services and customer support. Shootman began his career with IBM Corporation.
Shootman holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Bryce M. Johnson is senior vice president and general counsel of Vignette, a position he has held since December 2000 and is responsible for overseeing the company's legal, human resources and governmental affairs.
Prior to joining Vignette, Johnson was Chief Legal Counsel for Tivoli Systems Inc. and Associate General Counsel of IBM Corporation. Johnson has held a variety of legal positions with IBM, including Counsel to IBM Europe.
Johnson received his Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors from Georgetown and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Kentucky.
Somesh Singh joined Vignette in February 2007 as senior vice president of Research and Development and Technical Operations. Singh is responsible for all engineering, customer support and IT operations at Vignette.
Prior to joining Vignette, Singh was vice president and general manager, Identity Management Business Unit, for BMC Software, Inc. Over a 9 year period at BMC, Singh held several senior executive positions including vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing Operations, vice president of Corporate Operations, and vice president of Research and Development.
Singh also served as president and chief operating officer of iVita Corporation, a Houston-based asset management software startup he founded and spent more than 12 years at IBM in several professional and management positions in manufacturing, research and development, and finance.
Singh holds a bachelor's of technology degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Technology, BHU, India, a master's of science in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, and an MBA from The Wharton School of Business.
Conleth O'Connell, Ph. D is chief technology officer at Vignette Corporation. Dr. O'Connell is responsible for driving new technology and innovation within the company. Dr. O'Connell joined Vignette in 1996 as one of the company's first engineers and helped develop Vignette's initial product offering.
Prior to becoming CTO, Dr. O'Connell held multiple engineering and architect roles and influenced the company's support for open standards by participating in various standards committees including W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), OASIS, and WS-I (Web Services Interoperability).
Dr. O'Connell joined Vignette from HaL Computer Systems where he led product development efforts and participated in the Davenport Group, a consortium that created an SGML distribution format for online documents called the DocBook DTD. Prior to that, Dr. O'Connell spent time as a director of an Industrial Consortium, where he supervised graduate students who produced an integrated software architecture and later co-authored a book on the architectural design of the project.
Dr. O'Connell was recently honored as a Distinguished Alumni by Ohio State University where he holds a master's degree and Ph. D in computer information systems. Dr. O'Connell holds several patents for innovation in content management and delivery.
Gayle Wiley joined Vignette in September 2005 as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources.
Prior to Vignette, Ms. Wiley was Founder and CEO of Montmartre Group, a human resources consulting practice based in Austin, Texas. Ms. Wiley also held senior posts at several organizations, including Tivoli Systems and IBM. While at IBM, Ms. Wiley was the Human Resource Executive for the Software Business in Europe. Ms. Wiley’s HR experience also includes working with Motorola and Abbott Laboratories.
Ms. Wiley earned an MSE in Education and Guidance Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
